Bits and Wires and Magic Things

First, some vocabulary
RF = Radio-Frequency
IC = Integrated Circuit
DIP = Dual In-Line Package
Transistor = a form of switch
MOSFET = 'metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor', which can act as a switch or n amplifier
MCU = Micro Controller Unit is a very small computer with a little bit of memory, and a limited computing ability
Diode = a devices that allows current to pass in one direction, but not in the opposite direction.
LED = Light-Emitting Diode, of varying brightness and color. The light is a (fortunate) byproduct of the functioning of the diode.

OK, so here's what we have to play with. You probably will want to breadboard these things together in some fiendish way and hook it up to an arduino or something to make something useful out of it. (See map at the bottom for where things are.)

CONN IC SOCKET VERT 28POS TIN

CONN IC SOCKET VERT 8POS TIN

socket that allows integrated-circuit-like connections to circuits by providing a integrated-circuit frame to be inserted into (for instance) a breadboard. These circuits could either be built pin-by-pin, or could simply be a ribbon cable connecting to some other part of the board or circuit.

We also have collection of general electrical useful-things, in a box of shelves called the 'bits-box'. Here's a catalog.

In addition, we have some 'kits' of collections of useful bits of things. If you take something out of one of these, we need to know - just to be able to keep track and know when to re-order!
